Clinical Social Workers have significant training, supervision and experience in conducting therapeutic assessments and interventions for a variety of mental health, addiction, environmental, familial, behavioural, developmental / cognitive  and situational challenges.  

Clinical Social Workers hold a minimum of a Masters Degree in Social Work with a specialization in clinical counselling and have completed a supervised practicuminvolves evaluation of the applicant's clinical skills, ethics, theoretical knowledge, and ability to manage associated administrative tasks in a competently .  They are also required to engage in regular professional development / continuing education training for the remainder of their clinical practice.

Clinical Social Workers may base their practice on a variety of social work perspectives and may utilize various treatment methods and modalities.

Clinical Social Workers perform services in a variety of settings including private practice, hospitals, community mental health, primary care, longer-term care, and other agencies / organizations.
